Babies likes things that makes sounds, this will help keep baby entertained. When buying a rattle, choose one that has a slim body that can be easily grasped by the small hands of the baby.
2) Rocker/ Bouncer
It helps to keep baby entertained and baby can nap/ feed in it during the day. Some rockers/ bouncers come with a toy bar that has dangling toys for baby to reach out to and play with helping them to train their motor skills. I bought Larry a manual fisher-price rocker that has a toy bar which is removable and vibration function which is battery operated. The vibration of the rocker helps to calm and soothe baby. It also has a reclining seat which is adjustable to 3 levels, thus it can be used for new-borns to toddler. It can also be converted from a rocker to a stationary seat. Being light and foldable, it makes this rocker portable and easy to keep.
3) Activity Gym/ Mat
An activity gym helps to stimulate babies with games, textures and colours. The dangling toys will encourage babies to reach out and explore them using both hands and legs. It helps babies to learn about cause and effect, trains their motor skills and provides a comfortable mat for baby to enjoy some tummy time play, strengthening their back and neck muscles at the same time. Some activity gyms are battery operated and come with music and lights.
4) Toys
Age appropriate educational toys can help babies develop healthily while keeping them entertained. It can help develop their motor skills, auditory sense and in other areas as well. I particularly like toys like the "Lamaze Freddie the Firefly" which has a chain link for easy attachment to a baby cot rail, car seat, stroller, activity mat or other toys. This toy has been one of Larry's favourite ever since we introduced it to him when he was a new-born. I hung it on the rail of his cot and he still plays with it now every time when he is in his cot.
